Short-Hand Mind-Map on Analogy

Filling in the cut out bits

Top Left:
Aquinas

Top Middle:
2. Proportion
- It is difficult to use the same language to compare a finite being with an infinite one.
- the meaning changes according to the proportion of the 'being' being described.

Top right

- [Hick Statement] - to demonstrate
- [Mirror Statement] - God exists

Bottom Middle

Payley's watch is an example of an analogy

Univocal language does not work because it leads to anthropomorphism and a contradiction (According to Christian belief god is out this world yet we describe God as though he is in this world)

Equivocal Language does not work because we are left with the dilemma so what does RL mean?

Cole as a result calls this a compromise.
